Boise livability still tops charts despite rising home prices

Boise continues to receive national attention as being a desirable place to live, and the outcomes are rubbing some residents the wrong way: benefits like a stronger economy are coupled with expensive home prices — a boon for sellers and realtors, but a potential hardship for local buyers.

According to Boise Regional Realtors’ most recent statistics, the median sale price of a home last month was just shy of $410,000, and on average a home was on the market for 26 days, down 23.5% year over year. Meridian, Nampa among top 10 fastest growing cities in America

The Treasure Valley is still a red-hot destination for new residents, according to a report from WalletHub.
BOISE, Idaho — Meridian and Nampa are among the top 10 fastest-growing cities in the country, according to a 2020 report of the fastest-growing cities in America.
The Census Bureau reported that the southern and western regions of the United States held 13 of the 15 cities with the highest population growth between 2010 and 2019.

Ada County’s population grew 3.6 percent last year

A new report lists several ways Ada County grew or expanded in 2018 as its population grew 3.6 percent, to an estimated 471,000 people.

That expansion affected virtually every element of county government, said the report released by the Ada County Commission.

The growth was the fastest in three years, thanks largely to people moving to the Boise area as its economy booms and the city keeps making best-of lists. The population grew 2.6 percent in 2017 and 1 percent in 2016.

Boise ranked 2nd best state capital to live in the U.S.

BOISE, Idaho — Boise ranked as the second best state capital to live in the U.S., according to a new report from the personal finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub compared all 50 state capitals across 54 key metrics to identify the most livable seats of state government. They ranged from cost of living to affordability to unemployment to economic well being to the number of attractions.

REALTOR.COM: BOISE A HOT HOUSING MARKET IN 2019

The City of Trees just added another distinction to its growing résumé.  Idaho’s capital city is among the top 10 “surprising housing markets poised to rule in 2019,” according to realtor.com.

The roster was created after the real estate listings website analyzed housing markets across the U.S. that are hotbeds for job growth and new construction— places where hordes of new residents are moving and which are, for the most part, relatively affordable.

IDAHO RANKS 3RD IN THE NATION FOR INBOUND MOVES

Americans are relocating to western and southern parts of the country, making Idaho the third most popular state to move to, according to United Van Lines’ 42nd Annual National Movers Study released Wednesday.  The report tracks customers’ state-to-state migration patterns over the past year.  

The study found that the state with the highest percentage of inbound migration was Vermont (72.6 percent), with 234 total moves. Oregon, which had 3,346 total moves, experienced the second highest percentage nationally, with 63.8 percent inbound moves.
